Winter in all her glory has come upon the land. This past Sunday I measured the snow at 11 inches deep. Tuesday morning it was at 15 inches. Wednesday night it reached a height of 16 1/2 inches. This was in my front yard. Friday the sun presented its self to the countryside. Then it rained Friday night through Saturday and some this morning. Now the covering is down to about 3 inches deep. Did I say I almost hate shoveling? At least it was a light puffy snow making the shoveling easier to take. Lake Tamarack is frozen over today I stood upon the ice at shores edge. The ice was only soft at the very edge. A foot out I could not crack the ice. some will soon be ice fishing. (not me) That foot out from the shore was far enough for me to trust. The weather forcasters are predicting another storm.. We shall see what it brings.
Beneath Frozen Mantel
..
Winter's breath has
Kissed your home
Grey curtains
Dim the days' light
..
No artist pencil
Sketches the truth
In grey and white
..
Beneath a frozen mantel
The laughter of child
At play, nor,
New songs of Sparrow
Bathe in your
Waters
.. With no breeze to roil
Your slumber,
In blissful quiet,
Sleep and dream of
Seasons past
..
Above clouds
Of winter cold,
The sun still shines
..
