This time last year we had approximately 13 inches of snow on the ground.
this year hardly any Today i brushed maybe 1 inch off my truck. Except for the small snowfall, this year reminds me of winter in Augusta. The dampness hangs in the air. and flows through the body. Once the damp cold sets into the body it is extremely difficult to get warm. I could use a sauna in the house this year.

The Last Apple

I looked upon
my backyard last week

Twisted, and bent
the apple tree stands
in silence
A grey sculpture
barren of all except...
Attached to the home
that gave it life...
A small flower matured...
one small apple

I think to myself...
surely there must be
verse in this last fruit

So tenacious is this fruit,
clinging, beyond its time
to a home to high to reach...
It feeds only the biting cold of
a winter wind

It is gone today...
taken with it were
my thoughts for
a noble verse

  1. The last apple now rests contentedly in the nest of the nearest squirrel or chipmunk for the winter..

  2. It`s the story about life. Trees are close to The Heart of The Earth. The Apple from The Tree is Love. The Animals know that and see that Love gives life to all on The Earth.
